Gaza: Operation “Pillar of Defence”

Overlooking Gaza City, children play in eastern Gaza, which was hit by two tank shells 15 minutes later resulting in 2 dead and many injured. The Israeli response was to a Palestinian militant rocket attack that destroyed an IDF army jeep, wounding 4 Israeli soldiers, as a response in turn to the death of a Palestinian 13-year-old boy, Hamid Younis Abu Daqqa.

Hamid Younis Abu Daqqa's sister holds his football. He was 13 when he was killed during an Israeli helicopter attack on Khan Younis on Thursday, 8 November, when he was playing football in the street.

Palestinian ambulance rushing towards the scene of one of the multiple bombings which immediately followed the assassination of Ahmed Jaabari. The first afternoon of "Operation €œPillar of Defence"€ which resulted in 30 attacks on Gaza: 8 people died and more than 50 got injured.

Ahmad Jaabari's car was destroyed by an unmanned Israeli plane. He was a member of political office in Hamas and the leader of Al-Qassam Brigades. His assassination marked the beginning of IDF Operation "€œPillar of Defense".
